Chapter 29: Elixir of life

Professor Bathilda Bashat’s passage just finished.
But just as she paused for a drink--
   Someone raised his hand.
Professor Bagshot rubbed his eyes, seeming a little surprised.
"you are?"
"I'm Granger, Professor!" Hermione Granger said generously, "I took the liberty to interrupt you, but I'm curious, so I want to ask you: What is the elixir of life?"
When Professor Bathilda Bagshot mentioned Merlin’s life experience earlier, he mentioned that he had been using the elixir to continue his life.
Obviously, Hermione is not the only one who wants to know the answer to this question. As she spoke, soft whispers were heard everywhere in the huge classroom.
Professor Bashat is a very kind witch. She was not angry because a student interrupted her lecture.
Instead, he continued to say in a gentle tone: "My course is the history of magic, and what I am studying is historical events. Of course, if you are interested in elixir—"
   "Yes, Professor."
   "We are interested!"
"Talk about the elixir of life!"...
Professor Bashat's voice just fell, and bursts of impatient and immature voices suddenly sounded from all around.
Including some pure-blooded wizards, such as Pansy Parkinson and Daphne Greengrass, were all excited about it and straightened their bodies.
Perhaps only Agnes Lestrange was alone, lying on the table with a sense of interest.
"Okay, okay." Professor Bagshot raised his hands and motioned for everyone to be quiet: "Then I will meet everyone's requirements!"
The whole classroom fell silent again. Everyone was attentively staring at the old lady on the podium.
"Regarding the elixir, we have to start with the ‘magic’s stone’." Professor Bagshot said slowly: "There are also wizards who call it the ‘sage’s stone’"
"It is the purest, most precious, and most miraculous substance. It is the highest masterpiece of ancient alchemy so far! Of course, on the outside, it is just a man-made stone with magical properties and the same color as blood. "
"It can realize the most primitive wishes of the wizard, including endless wealth (turning any kind of metal into pure gold), permanent youth, and infinite life... The infinite life of which depends on the'magic stone' It can make an elixir that prolongs the life of the drinker!"
"Of course, the power of the elixir is not unlimited. For ordinary wizards, even if they keep using the elixir, at most they can only live between 700 and 800 years old."
"And Merlin not only possesses the Philosopher's Stone, but also has half of the'Dream Demon' blood in his body, which allows him to live up to a thousand and two hundred years, and finally died unexpectedly because of the goblin rebellion.
Professor Bagshot lowered his head again and took a drink.
When she raised her head, she found another hand waving in the air.
   "This gentleman?"
"This is Longbottom, Professor Bagshot!" The tall boy hurriedly stood up and said with excitement: "In other words, after Mr. Merlin's death, has his magic stone passed down? "
"No, Mr. Longbottom." Professor Bagshot shook his head: "Merlin donated all his inheritance to Sir Merlin before he died, but this does not include the Philosopher's Stone. So some people suspect. Before he was alive, he had used up all the magic stones."
"So how can I get a Philosopher's Stone?" Another Gryffindor boy, with a "wow", stood up.
immediately caused a burst of laughter among the teachers and students in the class.
"you are?"
"This is Weasley!" the red-haired boy said quickly.
"Okay Mr. Weasley, but I suggest you raise your hand next time you ask a question." Professor Bagshot said, but there was not much blame in his voice:
"The craftsmanship of the Philosopher’s Stone has been lost six hundred years ago. Although there have been many reports on the Philosopher’s Stone for many centuries, the only remaining Philosopher’s Stone—"
Professor Bagshot’s voice became mysterious. She deliberately bought a pass:
   "It's at Hogwarts!"
The words instantly made the whole classroom boil.
"what?"
"Really?"
   "Are you kidding me, professor?"...
"That's true!" Professor Bagshot raised his tone a bit: "The only Philosopher's Stone left at present was made by the famous 14th century alchemist Mr. Nick LeMay. After several changes, it now belongs to Hogwarts. Headmaster Gellert Grindelwald!"
"Isn't that..." Ronald Weasley spoke without hesitation~EbookFREE.me~ But he quickly realized something and quickly raised his hand.
"Very well, Mr. Weasley." Professor Bagshot gave him an encouraging look.
"Isn't that... Principal Grindelwald can live at least 700 to 800 years old?" Ronald Weasley quickly stood up again and asked loudly.
"Life is not as simple as you think, young man." Professor Bagshot's expression gradually became serious:
"Long lifespan is often a torture, because doing so will mean paying a lot of heavy costs. And in a limited life, do not regret for wasted years, nor be ashamed for inaction, realize The real value in the heart. This is what a great wizard should do."
"From what I know about Gellert, he can't do such a boring thing to use the elixir to continue his life."
  ……
The elixir and the Philosopher’s Stone are just an episode in this "potions lesson".
Soon Professor Bagshot began to talk about the historic duel between Merlin and Morgana on Avalon Island, which soon attracted everyone's attention.
But until after class, some people still remember the magic stone.
For example, when Matthew passed by Ronald Weasley, he heard him muttering there: "If I get the Sorcerer's Stone, I will use it to make a lot of gold first, and then in Diagon Alley. Buy a house..."
Matthew worried that the "tragedy" that happened during breakfast and dinner would happen again.
He didn't stay for long, and hurriedly left the magic history classroom.
