Xu Qiu, Chen Wanqing, Wu Feifei and Duan Yun came to the 218 office.
Wei Xingsi asked them if they had bought a ticket to go home. After getting a positive answer, he nodded and said:
"Come over tomorrow to clean the laboratory. We will officially have a vacation. There are 15 days in the summer vacation. You must be back on time on August 15."
After he finished speaking, he waited for a few seconds and saw that there was no objection from everyone, so he continued:
"That's it, you guys go out to eat tonight, how much did it cost in the end, Wu Feifei, tell me about it, and I will transfer it to you."
"Okay." Wu Feifei said.
…………
Everyone returned to Room 216.
"It's finally a holiday!" Duan Yun said happily: "The boss treats you tonight, what should I eat tonight?"
"I'm free, just remember to control the budget, about 70 per capita." Wu Feifei said.
"I'm free, Xu Qiu, how about you?" Chen Wanqing said.
"It's up to you to decide." Xu Qiu said.
"Why don't you go to the fusion restaurant last time? Red pepper," Duan Yun said: "Everyone orders rice, the budget shouldn't exceed."
"Red pepper, is it a fusion dish?" Xu Qiu asked in confusion.
"It should be called..." Chen Wanqing thought for a while and said, "Fusion of Sichuan cuisine?"
"That one I have eaten, the taste is okay." Xu Qiu said: "By the way, do you all like Sichuan food?"
"The main reason is that Teacher Wei likes to eat. Every time he takes us out for a meal, he goes to the Sichuan restaurant. Over time, we all get used to eating," Wu Feifei said:
"I didn't eat spicy food until I came to the magic city."
The place for dinner is so determined.
However, it is early five o'clock in the afternoon, and I have to wait for more than 20 minutes to get off work.
Xu Qiu also had no intention of coding his own thesis. He leaned over to Chen Wanqing and asked:
"Sister, tell me about the process of submitting papers."
"Okay," Chen Wanqing had nothing to do and said:
"You have seen the previous process. After the article is written, you can find the corresponding website for any journal you want to submit to, click to enter the submission interface, and then fill in various information and submit it."
"What about CoverLetter?" Xu Qiu asked, "I have never heard of this stuff before."
"This is for the editor, mainly to introduce the highlights of this article," Chen Wanqing said:
The content in " can be appropriately exaggerated, because it will not appear in the final text and will not be seen by reviewers in most cases.
Normally, after the editor has read the CoverLetter and the title, they will generally judge whether the article has publication value.
Only if he feels valuable, will he continue to read the text, and after reading the text, he will judge it again.
If you look at it comprehensively, the editor thinks this article is worthless, and may reject it directly, or suggest that you switch to other journals under their company, and generally recommend new journals or junk journals.
In both cases, the editor will reply to you relatively quickly, usually within a week or two.
However, for journals with very slow review cycles such as Nature, it is difficult to say when the information will be available.
If the editor feels that the article has publication value after judgment, he will arrange peer review for you based on the keywords you provide, the desired reviewers, and the undesired reviewers.
Because paper review is highly subjective, and reviewers are free and voluntary labor, some people are unwilling to review the manuscript or have no time to review the manuscript.
So generally three reviewers are selected, and occasionally there are two reviewers. Some better journals will select five or more reviewers.
After reviewing the manuscript, the reviewers will return their comments to the editor. After the editor has received all the reviewers' comments, they will refer to their comments and decide how to deal with this submission.
The first type is direct reception. This possibility is very small. Generally, this situation is the low vote, that is, the value of the article is higher than the journal level;
The second type is a small change. Generally, some phenomena are not explained clearly, and some descriptions need to be added, or a small amount of experiments;
The third type is a major change, which usually requires a lot of experiments or descriptions;
The last one is to reject manuscripts or suggest transfer to other journals.
After the editor decides what to do with the submission, the result will be fed back to the contributor.
If it is a direct acceptance or rejection, it goes without saying.
If you encounter minor or major changes, contributors need to refer to the comments of the reviewers, answer every question they raise, and add experiments or modify the content of the article.
If you encounter a question that is really unanswerable or something that you cannot modify, you must give a reasonable reason.
After all this is done, the contributor should send the revised version and the reply to the reviewer’s comments to the editor.
The editor decides to accept it directly, or to send your article to the reviewer for review. If it is the latter, the article is usually returned to the original reviewer.
Then it loops until the editor accepts the manuscript or rejects you. "
"After the original article was posted, there are still so many things," Xu Qiu asked:
"Then if the reviewer thinks you are unhappy, and you keep changing, he keeps rejecting you, what should I do?"
"Actually, the reviewer is not that important. It is not the reviewer but the editor that determines the fate of the article." Chen Wanqing said:
"If the editor is optimistic, he can ignore the negative opinions of the reviewers and directly let you pass the manuscript. Anyone who can be an editor still has basic judgment.
Besides, there are so many journals now, even if this one is rejected, just go to another one to vote for the same grade.
Like our research group, generally invest in the three companies of ACS, RSC and Wiely. Teacher Wei is biased against Elsevier, so he generally does not consider its journals~EbookFREE.me~ Each company has several different grades. Journals are available for selection.
However, after the article is submitted to the journal company, they will have a record. Unless it is resubmitted by the editor, or if it is resubmitted to other journals of their company, the submission rate is not high.
Therefore, our articles generally only have three submission opportunities, that is, three companies submit one by one.
If it is rejected the second time, it will be submitted to a relatively poor journal for the third time.
In addition, the formats of their three companies are different, and the format is changed every time before submission.
Otherwise, if you use the ACS format to submit to RSC journals, the editor will directly reject the manuscript if the editor sees that the format is incorrect.
Like your current article, Wiely’s template is used. "
"No wonder I usually read documents, and often find different journals, their reference format, typesetting, including the case of the title letter are different." Xu Qiu said.
"Yes, but the format of the journals of the same company is basically the same," Chen Wanqing said:
"Because we basically only vote for the journals of those three companies, it is enough to learn the three formats.
We generally use ENDNOTE software to sort out the literature, fill in the literature information, and then automatically generate references and export them in batches.
But note that the format it generates sometimes has minor problems and needs to be changed manually. "
"Okay, I'll download one." Xu Qiu said.
"By the way, I forgot to say it just now. The most important thing about submitting an article is that you must not submit more than one manuscript. It is found that you will be directly included in the blacklist of the journal company," Chen Wanqing said:
"However, the submissions are all handled by Teacher Wei, so we don't have to worry about such things."
