Chapter 618: Magical Beast Divine System
After setting up a giant Spirit Gathering Spell Formation by the Golden Roc to help it quickly recover from its injuries, Yang Ling sat down cross-legged near the Wizard’s Pagoda. He consumed a few handfuls of Magical Beast Blood Orbs to replenish the Wizard Power and Mental Energy he expended, then took out Vladimir’s divinity and the Dragon Head Ring.
Consuming the divinity of a Divine Duty Expert might be even better than consuming the divinity of a hundred high-level Deities!
Looking at the brown divinity in his hand and sensing the massive amounts of energy it contained, Yang Ling was silent in deliberation. No one would remain unmoved with such divinity before them, and Yang Ling himself was no exception. Regrettably, he had already cultivated three laws — Ice, Power, and Lightning. As he had to focus most of his effort in training his Wizard Technique, it was already decent that he managed to completely grasp three different laws. He did not have the energy to cultivate another law, nor was there a need for him to risk his life to cultivate even more laws. However, he did not have any powerful Magical Beasts by his side that trained in the Law of Earth. There was no suitable candidate for this divinity for the time being.
The demoness had evolved from a Groundhog and had passable talents in earth elemental magic. Unfortunately, her focus was on the Law of Wind; the Nine-headed Snake King Hydra knew a little bit of every element but currently focused her efforts on the Law of Fire. She had not even fully fused with the fire-element divinity of the Abyssal Demon, which meant that giving her this earth-element divinity was not suitable either. Shadow Wizard Winnink and Scorpion King Ymort had not received a divinity, but unfortunately, both of them did not cultivate the Law of Earth, making this divinity unsuitable for them…
Forget it, I’ll keep it first, perhaps I’ll tame an earth-element, Divine-level Magical Beast someday. It’ll have its use then!
After deliberating for a moment, Yang Ling decided to keep Vladimir’s divinity and closely examined the Dragon Head Ring he left behind.
Just like the Dragon Head Ring he had obtained in the underwater castle, the ring Vladimir left behind had a lifelike head of a dragon carved into it, with the only difference being the number of heads. They were equally lifelike, both ferocious and bloodthirsty. It felt as though it had not been carved into the ring, but instead had a giant dragon forcefully sealed into the ring with an unparalleled spell. It was also similar to the Dragon Head Ring he obtained in the Gibra Temple, at least on the surface!
Just what secrets do the Dragon Head Rings hold?
Looking at the ring left behind by Vladimir, then looking at the Nine-dragon Divine Ring on his finger and the Dragon Head Ring he obtained in the Gibra Temple, Yang Ling became really confused about the secrets behind these rings. He collected himself and slowly flipped through Vladimir’s memories.
Vladimir’s memory bank was massive. He had reached the peak of a high-level Deity in just a few thousand years, then was fortunate enough to become a member of the Algernon Divine System, focusing his training on the Law of Earth and becoming an officer of the earth. He was originally responsible for excavating ores and searching for premium veins of ores, traveling the world all day long. Afterwards, he was mobilized back to the main camp of the family, becoming a personal guard for the young master, Dio. The ring that had been etched with a dragon’s head was a treasure given to him by the Core Deity Algernon when he joined the Algernon Divine System back then.
After skipping past a great deal of unimportant information, Yang Ling searched further for the secrets of the Dragon Head Ring. After spending an hour on the task, he finally understood what was going on.
As it turned out, when a fighter cultivated their abilities to a certain level and obtained a large number of devotees, for the organization to recruit talents and expand their influence, they could set up a Divine System and gather powerful fighters to be affiliated under them by giving them a share of the power of faith they obtained. They could also give them permission to have a bunch of devotees so that they could advance to become a Divine Duty Expert.
A Divine System usually possessed a massive sphere of influence and an alarming number of devotees, as well as a great number of powerful fighters affiliated under them. According to the strength of their abilities, Divine Duty Experts were split into nine levels, with a First-level Divine Duty Expert being the weakest. They had one dragon head on their rings and were often responsible for low-level duties such as spreading the faith and maintaining connections with the outside world. Second-level Divine Duty Experts were a level higher and were responsible for relatively more complicated and troublesome matters. In the same vein, the more powerful the abilities of the Divine Duty Expert, the more dragon heads they would have on their ring and the more authority they would have. Only the Core Deity possessed the highest-level Nine-dragon Ring, and he lorded over all of the Divine Duty Experts within the Divine System.
The Dragon Head Ring was not only the symbol of a Divine Duty Expert’s identity, but it was also a treasure that possessed immense power. It could be used to absorb the Wish Power of a devotee and quickly replenish the Divine Power and Mental Energy they expended. It could also rapidly establish contact with a Divine Duty Expert of the same Divine System even if they were far away. In fact, it could even open the doors to specific physical dimensions, just like a Teleportation Portal could.
After training to a certain extent and obtaining a sufficient number of devotees, high-level Divine Duty Experts could purchase or forcefully occupy a physical dimension with the help of the Divine System, then move their devotees over and receive an endless stream of Wish Power. The Dragon Head Ring was the teleportation portal that allowed them to quickly enter a specific physical dimension.
Tsk tsk… to be able to obtain a specific physical dimension… how powerful!
After gaining a rough understanding of what was going on through Vladimir’s memories, Yang Ling exclaimed loudly. He had wanted to further understand the situation but unfortunately could not find any related information in Vladimir’s memories. It seemed as though Vladimir, a First-level Divine Duty Expert, was just a newbie and was unclear of many of the details.
Ever since I unintentionally obtained the Wizard’s Pagoda, in some sense, it has become a Teleportation Portal to the Wizard Pagoda’s Space. Could it be a special Dragon Head Ring?
Yang Ling imagined things as he fiddled with the dozen Dragon Head Rings in his hands, closely examining the secrets within them.
According to Vladimir’s memories, every Dragon Head Ring was created personally by the Core Deity. One would be able to advance to the next level after training to a certain degree and obtaining the blessing of the Core Deity. There would correspondingly be one more dragon head on their ring, allowing them to absorb an even larger amount of Wish Power and further increasing the speed of their cultivation. Other than a Core Deity, even a Divine Duty Expert, who had eight dragon heads on their ring, would be unable to dispel the mysteries surrounding the Dragon Head Ring, and they would be unable to absorb even more Wish Power than the ring allowed them to.
Is this another detestable Ancient Magical Spell Formation?
Yang Ling knit his brows after sensing the structure within the Dragon Head Ring.
All this while, both the talented Corpse Wizard King and the demoness could grasp other laws rather quickly, but had slow improvements when it came to their training of Wizard Techniques. This was because they did not possess the legacy of the Wizard’s Pagoda, making it exceptionally hard for them in terms of training. Another reason for that was because they did not have a massive amount of Soul Energy.
Soul Energy was of paramount importance when it came to the cultivation of the mysterious Wizard Techniques, especially when it came to Soul Wizard Techniques like the Mighty Beast Domain that he had created. There was no way that they could learn the technique without a sufficient amount of Soul Energy. Even if they understood what was going on, they would not have the ability to cast the spell.
It was hard to improve one’s Divine Power and even harder to improve one’s Soul Energy. Not everyone could use the high-level Soul Tampering Technique to absorb the Soul Energy of another person like Yang Ling could. The Wish Power released by devotees during their prayers are decent and could rapidly increase the Soul Energy of a person. However, all this while, Yang Ling had not been able to find a way to allow the Corpse Wizard King and the rest of the group to directly absorb Wish Power.
Now, after understanding the uses of the Dragon Head Ring through Vladimir’s memories, he finally indirectly found a way to solve the problem. His greatest asset was his Wizard Techniques and Magical Beasts. After having developed a large number of devotees within the Wizard Pagoda’s Space, he could set up a preliminary Magical Beast Divine System and give the Corpse Wizard King and the rest of the group a share of the devotees’ Wish Power, allowing them to improve rapidly. If everything was successful, it might be even more beneficial than having them ingest divinities directly. The premise of all of these things was how to crack the secrets behind the Dragon Head Ring!
Magical Beast Divine System, that’s right, I have to set up my own Divine System no matter what and expand my faction as soon as possible!
Looking at the Corpse Wizard King, the Dark Dragon King, and the rest of the group who were training not far away, then seeing the team of Magical Beasts patrolling the area around the Wizard’s Pagoda, Yang Ling quickly came to a decision. Following this, he planned to mobilize all of his resources in setting up a Magical Beast Divine System within the Wizard Pagoda’s Space in order to increase the battle capabilities of his Magical Beasts as quickly as possible.
It was hard to crack the secrets of the Dragon Head Ring, but having been able to crack even the secrets behind the powerful and mysterious Angel Battle Formation from the City Amongst the Clouds, Yang Ling did not believe that he would be defeated by a small ring with his abilities as a Great Soul Wizard.
If he could not crack it in a day, he could do it in ten days; if he could not crack it in a year, then he would examine it for ten years. There will come a day where he will learn of the secrets behind the ring! In fact, he might even be able to act on the principles of the ring and personally create an improved version. It might be even stronger than the original Dragon Head Ring!
Creak…
Yang Ling collected himself as he cautiously sent a streak of his Divine Knowledge into the Dragon Head Ring Vladimir left behind, closely examining the structure within the ring. He slowly gained a faint understanding of the situation, from the material of the ring to its size, weight and interior structure.
Vladimir was only a First-level Divine Duty Expert, and while his abilities were far stronger than that of an ordinary high-level Deity, he was nothing compared to the powerful Divine Duty Experts. The Dragon Head Ring he left behind was the simplest of them all, only possessing one dragon head. Getting started on anything was the hardest step. As long as he managed to crack the secrets behind the simplest Dragon Head Ring, it would be much easier for him to crack the secrets behind the rings with five or six dragon heads in the future.
The mass of symbols, rings upon rings of a Magical Spell Formation, obscure yet extremely threatening ripples of energy…
Yang Ling carefully examined the interior structure of the Dragon Head Ring. Even though he was already very cautious, he would sometimes accidentally step into a terrifying trap, losing the Divine Knowledge he injected into the ring. Sometimes, he would also be chased out by a violent aura within the ring, the aura directly attacking his Soul Crystal in his brain that was protected by a layer of Crystal Mist. Fortunately, his Soul Energy was strong enough, and coupled with the fact that he was adept in Soul Attacks and had exceptional Soul Defenses, he was able to avert the crisis without trouble time and time again. This was furthered by how he could absorb the Wish Power from the prayers of his people anytime he wanted.
Sometime later, gradually, a ring with symbols carved all over its body started taking shape in his head!
