Chapter 868: Turpan Travel Notes: 0 Buddha Cave!

In addition to the natural scenery in the canyon!
There is also a cultural landscape worth seeing!
That is Tuyugou Thousand Buddha Cave!
Tuyugou Thousand-Buddha Caves are located in the middle of the canyon. They were excavated during the period of the Jin Dynasty and the Sixteen Kingdoms. It is one of the three famous Buddhist grottoes in Xinjiang.
Zhao Feng and his group walked to the section of the Thousand Buddha Caves, and they were immediately attracted by the caves carved out of the cliffs on both sides of the canyon!
Among these caves, there are not many caves with Buddha statues intact!
But you can still see the majesty of the treasure on the Buddha statue!
Later, I saw a sign not far in front. The introduction on the above gave everyone a better understanding of these caves!
It turned out that during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the Tuyugou Grottoes were one of the most important Buddhist sites operated by the highest ruling group of the Gaochang Kingdom.
In the Tang Dynasty, the Buddhist caves on both sides of the Tuyugou Grand Canyon have been further developed, and the Buddhist mural art condensed in each cave has also developed to a new stage. According to the Tang Dynasty document "Xizhou Picture Scripture" unearthed from Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, Tuyugou was a fairyland on earth. The "Xizhou Illustrated Classic" has the following description: "In Tuyugou, there are numerous temples spreading along the mountain. They are backed by dangerous peaks, next to Qingxi, surrounded by green trees, and Buddhist temples and meditation houses are densely populated. Floating, continuous fireworks, wandering monks gathered, deep in the pedestrian valley, it is difficult to see the sun and the moon."
But compared with the "Xizhou Picture Classic", now Tuyugou only has broken walls and ruins, and it has long lived up to the grand occasion!
Tuyugou Thousand Buddha Cave has a history of more than 1,700 years since it was excavated, and it has experienced two stages of man-made destruction and natural collapse. There are 94 caves, and the only remaining murals are the eight remaining in cave 46!
Those surviving grottoes still show people the elegance of ancient civilizations, attracting the attention of experts and scholars studying Buddhism history and Buddhist art from all over the world. They are studying the history of Buddhism, Buddhist art, and ancient architecture in my country. Historical basis and physical data have inestimable historical and artistic value.
Tuyugou Thousand-Buddha Cave was called "Dinggu Temple" in ancient times. It is a grotto where caves were built earlier and many early murals have been preserved in Turpan. The earliest caves appeared in the Jin and Sixteen Kingdoms period. When the Juqu family became king (443-450 AD), it was the most prosperous period of Tuyugou Buddhism.
Due to imperialist plunder and man-made destruction, more than 90% of Tuyugou murals have been destroyed. Today, only 8 caves still have a few murals with Uighur inscriptions. Among them, in caves 1, 2, 3, and 4, the Buddha sits on a Hu bed, which is the only one seen in the whole country. Some fragments of Buddhist scriptures have been unearthed here.
  Go through these caves!
Anyone who is a Chinese can hardly avoid heartache!
In that era of the last century, many national treasures were indeed plundered abroad by greedy foreigners, and many were even destroyed by those foreigners, and most of them were lost in foreigners' collections!
It would be great if the system could legally bring back those Chinese treasures looted abroad!
Zhao Feng couldn't help but come up with such thoughts!
But for the system, this should also be a difficult task!
Everyone moved forward, and when they approached Nangukou, a yellow ancient building appeared in front of everyone!
This piece of ancient building is a more famous ancient religious relic in the canyon. The full name is Eshab Khaifu Mazha, and it is said to have a history of more than 1,300 years.
Tuyugou Oka Mu Mazha, legend has it that the missionaries first came to China to preach, and after all the hardships, they finally came to Tuyugou eastward.
With the help of the local shepherd with the dog, Ye Munaiha and other 6 people stayed here for a long time to continue preaching, and the religious teaching began to prevail in Tuyugou. Later, after the death of 6 people including Ye Munaiha and the first Chinese who believed in the Confucian religion (shepherd), they were buried in the cave, which is now Tuyugou Mazha.
   This relic has been weather-beaten!
Still standing on this vast land, perhaps they and the Thousand-Buddha Caves in the valley have also encountered imperialist looting, but now they are still silently proclaiming the cultural traces that have existed on this land. !
The last stop of Tuyugou is an ancient village!
is an ancient and peaceful Uyghur village located in the valley at the south exit of the Grand Canyon. It has a history of more than 1,700 years and is the oldest Uyghur village in Xinjiang.
When everyone arrived at the village along the exit of the gorge, backward!
discovered that this village is still inhabited by many people. It is distributed around the mosque with green towers, and there are about 200 households. This village has completely preserved the ancient Uyghur traditions and folk customs. People often rest at sunrise and work at sunset, use the ancient Uyghur language to communicate, wear the most ethnic costumes, and visit relatives and friends is still a classic donkey cart.
Zhao Feng, Liu Ruoxin, and Liu Yuhong met many people in the village, whether they were old people, young people or children. Their faces were always filled with calm, self-sufficient, and happy expressions, giving people a simple, laid-back, and uncontested look. Good impression.
In the ancient villages, residents have inherited the traditional custom of building houses with yellow clay for more than two thousand years. Some buildings still left the mark of the integration of Buddhism and Confucianism. The buildings are all kiln houses made of yellow clay. They are large and small, high and low; there are one-story houses and two-story houses; there are independent houses, and some are connected together along the mountain. Its characteristics are economical, warm in winter and cool in summer.
When Zhao Feng and his group left the canyon by car!
The impression left by Tuyugou Canyon on Zhao Feng and his group is still unfading for a long time!
Whether it is the Thousand-Buddha Caves of Tuyugou or the Okamura Bazaar, they have all experienced the winds and frosts of history, but history is not the murderer to destroy them!
It is human greed that destroyed them!
   Everyone is heavy now!

Coming out of the gorge, it was already past five o'clock, it was close to six o'clock!
But at this moment, the sun is still hanging high in the sky outside the car window!
In Beijiang Province, the sun sets every day at 9 o'clock in the evening or even more than 10 o'clock in the evening!
So the schedule of work and rest in Northern Xinjiang Province may be somewhat different from some provinces in the east!
Nearly an hour's drive, the convoy finally arrived in Turpan.
The city of Turpan is still very impressive in Zhao Feng's impression, because Zhao Feng learned a text called Turpan in elementary school!
describes the passion of Turpan people and some special products!
Zhao Feng still remembers the feeling of yearning for Turpan, after all, children like to eat raisins!
Although it is still early to get dark, it is still necessary to find a hotel, so everyone stays at the Mercure Hotel. There is a park in front of this hotel with a nice environment. If you want to see the lake and water, this hotel is definitely the first choice!
