Ch 27.2 – Lou yuan zhi
Lou Yao Yao, who had already confessed and told the truth, stuck her tongue out at her mother, and then huddled on the sofa. She listlessly called out to Lou Yuan Zhi:
Papa
.
After calling, she turned her head up and looked upstairs. Her big eyes spun around, not sure what plans were she cooking up.
Yao Yao, when you’re sitting, you have to have the proper sitting appearance. Look at your appearance, sit properly.
Lou Yuan Zhi’s displeasure deepened.
She obediently put her legs, that were on the sofa, down. Lou Yao Yao responded absent-mindedly:
Yes, papa.
However, after behaving for not long, Lou Yao Yao could not sit still anymore. She wanted to find someone to talk to. She looked at the two aunties who were standing far away because Lou Yuan Zhi was here, and then looked at Lou Yuan Zhi. She could only abandon her idea of finding someone to talk to. Eventually, she really could not sit still any longer, and decided to go against her mother’s words, sneaking and tiptoeing upstairs to eavesdrop.
When he saw Lou Yao Yao going upstairs, Lou Yuan Zhi furiously smashed the teacup on the floor.
These people, did they even treat him as the head of the family? His daughter got proposed to, and the boyfriend did not treat him seriously, his daughter had matters in her heart but rather speak to the servants instead of him, her father. His wife handled matters independently, and never sought his opinions. Was there even a meaning in him being the head of the family?
He looked again at the two nannies at the side, and the fury in his heart worsened. Even the servants didn’t treat him seriously!
He tugged on his tie agitatedly. Lou Yuan Zhi was unwilling to continue staying in this house. He took his car keys and went out.
Lou Yuan Zhi was born in a poor mountain ditch and his parents were honest, uneducated farmers, and named their son with an extremely plain and easy-to-understand name – Yuan Zhi, implying a lofty ambition.
They hoped that when their child grew up, he could have a lofty ambition. However, they passed away prematurely before they could see their child grow up to be a successful person. But, this name that carried their good wishes, invited countless ridicule to Lou Yuan Zhi.
He studied hard in his teens, and took the first place every year during examinations. His classmates would say sourly:
No wonder, since he has such a lofty ambition
.
Initially, he considered it as praise, but afterwards, the more he heard it, the more it didn’t feel good. He worked hard, he made progress, what did it have to do with his name? They had no talent and could only say things about his name!
He was later called a phoenix man, and felt even more resentful of his name. But, he could only pretend not to know, and could not even change his name to avoid being called petty.
Finally, he married Fang Xi Lei, and was ridiculed in many ways:
It turns out that being a little pretty face was his lofty ambition. I’ve really broadened my horizons!
These kind of words, he has heard them till his ears could grow calluses! It’s not that he had never thought of divorcing Fang Xi Lei, but in the end, he was unwilling. In the beginning, getting married to Fang Xi Lei was not because of this woman’s background, but he was attracted to her talent. Compared with Lou Qing Qing’s mother, that kind of gentle woman, Lou Yuan Zhi preferred the strong and independent Fang Xi Lei, and the two could have more common topics.
It’s just that Fang Xi Lei’s character was too proud and too independent. After interacting for long, he’d feel tired.
Everyone thought that he marrying Fang Xi Lei was like the equivalent of marrying a gold mountain. But who could know that after so many years of marriage, he was more and more hard up.
Fang Xi Lei, with that character of striving for self-improvement, everything that she had now was what she worked hard and earned for. Want money? Sure, earn it! Fang Xi Lei never short-changed her husband for food, clothing and things. But, treating others according to her own values, she also never gave Lou Yuan Zhi a single penny. Of course, if Lou Yuan Zhi wanted, she would give it. However, Lou Yuan Zhi could not afford to lose face.
After more than 20 years of marriage, the money that Lou Yuan Zhi had, was just his monthly salary. As a general manager of a clothing company with some popularity, how much salary could he earn in a year? 1 million? Two million? Or more. It sounded like a lot, but if you divided it out, it was around 100,000 to 200,000. This sum of money was naturally enough for ordinary people. But, to Lou Yuan Zhi, it was completely inadequate.
At their level, meeting with clients and eating a meal would easily cost tens of thousands of yuan. That little bit of money was not even enough to squeeze into the gaps of your teeth! Imagine how hard up he has lived all these years. No wonder others called him a miser.
In the beginning, it was not that he did not love Lou Yao Yao, nor did he not want to be close to her. But he simply could not afford the things that she wanted. Furthermore, she was the same as Fang Xi Lei, too proud, and was the sweetheart of everyone. So many people cared for her and pampered her, and she did not even bother to act spoilt to her biological father.
