The group quickly got themselves back together. Even if they had doubts, now was not the time to discuss them. Furthermore, they felt more at ease when they saw the horde of the Magical Beast army around them, as well as how confident Yang Ling was.
Even though the Twin-legged Flying Dragons were powerful, they knew that Yang Ling would only have taken action after developing some kind of plan. He would never take any risks that he was not confident about. Since he was this confident, he had to have figured out a way to deal with them.
Having calmed down, the group laid motionless in the lush forest, silently waiting for their prey to appear. Even though they believed that Yang Ling had a way to deal with the flying creatures, they were all nervous when they thought about how terrifying the fabled Twin-legged Flying Dragon were, and each one of them was more nervous than the last.
Yang Ling gave a satisfied nod when he saw Goode, Ashnamov and the rest quickly settle in to wait. He then sat in meditation, and using his massive mental energy, instructed the bat army to take action and drive the snow goats into the radius of their ambush.
A large number of Vampire Bats was the best bait he could use if he wanted to draw the Flying Dragons into the radius of his ambush. He believed that the thick scent of blood, and the pathetic cries of the goats would draw out the Flying Dragons soon.
With a large group of Vampire Bats chasing them around, the two-hundred-odd snow goats could only cry as they charge into the battle formation of the Magical Beast army. Even with their naturally good sense of smell, they were completely oblivious to the fact that they had stepped into an ambush.
The howling winds and falling snow perfectly hid the tracks the group and the Magical Beast army had left on the ground, and it helped to mask their scent.
Brother Yang, why did you drive this many snow goats here? Won’t it be more troublesome if we alert the Flying Dragons in the valley?
Yuna shook her head in confusion when she saw the large bunch of Vampire Bats circling in the air and the group of goats crying in fear.
That’s right, it would be troublesome if we accidentally exposed our tracks!
Stroking his white beard, the Fox Elder softly agreed with Yuna’s opinion. In his mind, they might be able to capture the Flying Dragons with the numbers advantage of the Magical Beast army if they accidentally stumbled into the radius of the ambush. But if their ambush was discovered by the powerful Flying Dragons, then the possibility of them successfully capturing the dragons would become miniscule. In fact, they might even suffer from heavy casualties under the counter attacks of the Flying Dragons.
Yang Ling smiled when they saw the confused group.
My intention is to alert the Flying Dragons in the valley. It would be truly troublesome if I could not alert them!
Even though they could not understand Yang Ling’s specific plan for the time being, they could guess the intention behind Yang Ling driving and massacring the horde of goats using his bat army when they detected the increasingly thicker stench of blood in the air and saw the group of goats crying pathetically.
Without any way to escape, the last dozen goats huddled against each other in fear, crying as they looked at the bat army circling in the air above them. Even though the Vampire Bats were not a rare sight around the lake, they had never seen such a large group of bats!
The group stared nervously at the goats, worried as they anticipated the arrival of the Flying Dragons. Meanwhile, Yang Ling remained motionless, his massive mental energy spreading out in ropes, observing the situation around him through the patrolling Horned Bee Beasts and his Tree Eyes ability, not missing any little change.
As a high-level Magical Beast that was as powerful as the Unicorn, the Twin-legged Flying Dragon had a level of intelligence far higher than that of an ordinary Magical Beast. The ambush they created on the Vampire Bats the other time he had been here proved that. He had to be mindful of his surroundings all the time, otherwise, it was possible that they would become the target of the Flying Dragons’ surprise attack instead.
Roar…
Just as the last snow goat fell and the metallic stench of blood spread throughout the entire radius of the ambush, waves of roars echoed from within the valley. Following that, a bunch of Flying Dragons quickly showed themselves. There were a total of thirty of them, all of varying sizes!
Thirty Flying Dragons?
Even though they had prepared themselves, the group could not help but feel anxious, clutching their weapons tightly in worry when they saw the thirty Flying Dragons suddenly appear.
A few Flying Dragons were already hard enough to deal with. How were they going to deal with all thirty of them?
As he remembered his role, the Fox Elder quickly cast a Wind Acceleration Spell on the group, prepared to flee for his life. Yuna silently muttered a few incantations, slowly gathering the Magical Energy in the air. Goode put on a grave expression, rubbing the Magical Beast Essence Crystal on the top of his staff from time to time.
Even the Fox Elder was nervous, and that said nothing about the dozen Foxman Spellcasters, Bullman warriors and Medusas. They were all frantic, each one more than the last, their heartbeats speeding up. Even though they were all elites in their respective tribes, they could not help but feel worried when faced with a large group of powerful high-level Magical Beasts.
Only Ashnamov had no change in his expression, guarding Yang Ling, motionless. He had a heavy Darkmetal Longspear by his side. As the bravest warrior in the Rossi Empire in the past, and having held command of the naval force in the past, he had been through many precarious situations. Both his battle experience and adaptability were far superior to an average person.
He had faced many merciless opponents while he was battling in the arena in Montson, and of them there was no shortage of high-level Magical Beasts. Even though his abilities were not much more powerful than that of an ordinary Sword Saint of Magical Tutor, his strong will to live and level of calm was much greater than a person could imagine, after having escaped death and turned defeat into victory many times over.
The Flying Dragons approached the bat army, roaring. After spewing out a rain of acid and defeating a bunch of bats, they continued their advance at high speeds with just a flap of their wings, rolling their sticky tongues as they consumed the bats by the mouthful.
Under the lead of the Bat King, the bat army darted side to side, drawing the Flying Dragons into the Magical Beast army’s area of ambush.
After devouring a portion of bats, the Flying Dragons were hot in pursuit. They were completely oblivious to the fact that they were charging into the ambush radius of the Magical Beast army, as well as a team of unique Vampire Bats sneakily closing in on them.
It was an opportunity not to be missed!
Seeing the Flying Dragons focused only on pursuing the bat army, how could Yang Ling bear to miss such a good opportunity?
He split the three hundred self destructing bats equipped with Mandalas into ten teams and mixed them into the three thousand ordinary self destructing bats, getting them to close in on the Flying Dragons under the cover of the boulders and shrubs.
In order to conceal their movements even further and ensure that every Mandala was used to its full effect, Yang Ling had the Gnome Elder rush to create over three thousand miniature bombs, forming a team of self destructing bats to act as a cover for the main team.
Having ten ordinary self destructing bats cover one that carried the Mandala was more than enough. Yang Ling believed that as long as the self destructing bats could close in, even the Twin-legged Flying Dragon would not be able to escape from misfortune, no matter how powerful their defensive capabilities were.
Under the group’s nervous gazes, and the intentional lure of the Bat King, the Twin-legged Flying Dragons did not realize the sneakily approaching self destructing bats. They only noticed something off when the latter attacked.
An ordinary bat would flee whenever it encountered a Flying Dragon, which was their natural enemy. Why would they retaliate?
All of the Flying Dragons felt that something was off when they saw the self destructing bats charging toward them, so out of character. But by then it was too late!
The ordinary self destructing bats were the first to launch their suicidal attacks. After a series of explosions, the steel nails and sharp weapons in the bombs tore open the Flying Dragons’ sturdy scales. Then, the self destructing bats that carried the Mandalas followed up, charging straight for the wounds of the Flying Dragons. After a string of explosions, they managed to send the poisonous Mandalas into the bodies of their adversaries.
In their carelessness, all thirty Flying Dragons suffered from the attack, falling helplessly onto the icy ground after flying forward for a distance. Every Flying Dragon had been inflicted with two Mandalas, without anything wasted.
After recalling the rest of the self destructing bats carrying the Mandala, Yang Ling nodded with satisfaction before sprinting forward quickly to tame the Flying Dragons that had fallen to the ground.
Even though rashly charging forward to tame the Flying Dragons carried some amount of risk, Yang Ling had to act, as the Flying Dragon was this close to them and reinforcements from the other party could arrive at any time. Otherwise, no one could guarantee that no accidents would happen later.
Yang Ling’s group widened their eyes in surprise. The Fox Elder was especially relieved, as he had been so worried. He rubbed his eyes hard, wondering if he was hallucinating.
He had expected that Yang Ling would get the Magical Beast army to surround and attack the Flying Dragons. He had expected that Yang Ling would defeat the Flying Dragons one by one after luring them into the radius of the ambush. He even expected that Yang Ling would attack personally using his Teleportation Magic. But he did not expect that the problem had been solved with just a bunch of self destructing bats, nor the fact that thirty powerful Flying Dragons would fall to the ground one by one!
The group was dumbfounded, unable to react for the time being. But Yang Ling moved fast, taming the incapacitated creatures one by one. He had been cautious at the start, but he gradually let his guard down after taming a dozen of them, his speed increasing as he went.
Of course, accidents often happen when one’s guard is at its lowest!
Just as Yang Ling was about to tame a mature, five-meter long Flying Dragon, the creature that had been so still before suddenly pushed down with its powerful legs, lunging at Yang Ling. It aimed sharp claws right at Yang Ling’s head. In that instant, Ashnamov and the rest who were more than ten steps away could not rush to his help in time!
But Yang Ling was not flustered in the face of danger, casting the Gaze of Confusion Wizard Mantra that he had just learned, his massive mental energy welling out like the tide.
In that instant, the Flying Dragon headed toward him with the last of its strength felt its vision darken, immediately losing sight of Yang Ling! Following that, he felt a bone-piercing chill come from behind its head. Not only its blood, it felt as though its brain had been frozen solid, its consciousness becoming more and more hazy…
