Chapter 29: Eyes in the sky

"Where have you been?" Charles, who was looking at the chart, asked the mouse who opened the door.
"I went out to play." Depressed Lily replied glumly.
"Are you hungry? I have some food on the table."
"Give it to the other mice, I have eaten it." The listless Lily climbed onto the pillow and lay down.
Looking at the emotionally abnormal mouse, Charles looked a little confused. He couldn't figure out what was wrong with the little mouse. Didn't it all pass?
But he was too lazy to get used to this stinking problem, pulling her tail directly onto the table.
"I found you some books on the operation of the fort. I will take you to the port for training tomorrow."
Lily looked at a few books that were taller than herself, and she instinctively resisted. "I don't watch, and I already know how to operate the fort!"
"Don't talk nonsense, it is not that simple to become a qualified gunner. Since you are my crew member, I must let you meet the standards. There are various abnormalities at sea. It is possible that your slight shortcomings will kill everyone."
Charles opened a book and threw the mouse up.
Under the captain’s compulsion, Lily was forced to gnaw books that did not belong to her age.
But in such a high-pressure environment, the depression and sadness in my heart quickly became unconcerned. The cheerful Lily came back again and kept complaining to Charles all day long.
I was so annoyed by the mouse that Charles, who had always spoken little, also spoke more. For the first time, the apartment room gained a little popularity.
Half a month passed quickly, Lily’s initial training was completed, and Charles took the rest of the crew to start a new mission again.
Because the fifth-level island explored before is already the most fringe island, this time Charles's mission is the northernmost sea area.
In general, simply exploring the sea is safer than the island. But the matter of Earth Sea, who can say clearly.
The other crew members were surprised by the return of Mouse Lily. Under Charles's suggestion, no one was inquiring too much. They only knew one thing. The Narwhal now has a mouse gunner.
The narwhal's chimney started to emit black smoke again, slowly disappearing under the watchful eyes of the dock workers.
Life on the sea is still as peaceful as ever, and the unknown things that have climbed up sporadically are quickly resolved
Entering the sea area without navigation mark for the second time, the crew calmed a lot.
Perhaps because there were no casualties in the last mission, the crew was very enthusiastic about the new mission.
Even after only half a month’s rest, everyone’s face is full of confidence. The second mate Kenona even wanted to introduce his cousin to the ship and make a fortune with him.
The crew members are all guessing in private how long they will be able to explore a new island and fly with their captain.
In the cockpit, Charles took a pen and calculated the current position of the ship on the chart based on the speed and direction.
This was originally the job of a navigator, but now it is him who completes it himself. This task is not sloppy. As long as the coordinates are a little bit close, the actual position will be a thousand miles away.
After repeatedly confirming that today's coordinates were correct, Charles turned around and planned to go to the captain's room to write a voyage diary.
But when he first walked out the door, he felt a little awkward.
Standing at the door, Charles turned around and looked at everything in the cockpit.
The cockpit of the Narwhal is larger than that of the Mouse, and the size is equivalent to half a classroom.
At this time, the sailor Captain Dip is at the helm, the first officer in bandages is sitting on the side monitoring the navigation, and the two are talking.
"Mate Bandage, did you know? James got married secretly! He didn't call us when he got married. Do you think he is a little too friendless?"
"Left rudder 15...speed increased by 5 knots..." The bandage commanded stupidly, as if he hadn't heard the sailor's complaint.
His eyes swept back and forth in the cabin, Charles finally found the awkwardness, he walked straight to the bandage, and pulled the bandage on his broken leg with his hand.
The thigh that was swallowed by Anna before actually grew out, and the black skin covered with tattoos formed a sharp contrast with the newly grown bright white skin.
Deep obviously noticed this surprising situation, his eyes widened to the fullest, and he made a fuss and said: "My God, you can grow back after a broken leg? Are you an octopus in the sea?"
"Don't look around when you are at the helm!" Charles yelled, and the curious Dip quickly retracted.
Charles pointed to the broken leg with his finger, and asked in the bandage: "Can you tell me what happened? I have never heard that Fatanists have a special way to regenerate their limbs."
"I... I don't know... My memory is messy... I've been to many places... and experienced many things, but my memory will disappear..."
The bandage covered his head with his hands, and there was a trace of pain on his face. "I don't seem to be called a bandage... but I'm not sure..."
It seems that this guy is also a person with a story. Charles sighed slightly in his heart.
He reached out and patted his shoulder. "It's okay, don't think about things before you can remember, now you just have to remember that you are the chief officer of the Narwhal."
The bandage sitting on the stool raised his head, and the corners of UU's mouth rose strongly, revealing a strange smile. "Thank you... Captain."
After finished speaking, he took a long black needle and proficiently poked his newly grown thigh, and a row of small words appeared on his thigh. "Captain Charles can be trusted."
"First officer, actually you don't have to—"
"Captain! Something happens! Look out the window!"
Hearing Dip's panicked voice, Charles immediately looked out of the window.
Pieces of bright yellow swayed down. This scene made Charles seem to see the snow on the earth, but there is no sky in the earth and sea. How can there be snow?
Facing the anomaly, as the captain Charles immediately issued countermeasures. "Everyone advanced in the cabin and left this sea at full speed."
The bright yellow "snow" accumulated more and more on the deck, and the atmosphere on the Narwhal became tense.
As the Narwhal made a muffled noise, the black smoke in the chimney began to thicken.
The energetic Charles stared at the dark sea, and there was no time to blink.
"Hoo~" "Hoo~" There was a whistling sound, and the sea began to wave.
"This... this is the wind? Is the wind blowing in the sea? Are we getting close to the entrance to the surface?" An absurd idea appeared in his mind.
Charles suddenly thought of something. His pupils shrank to a minimum, and he grabbed the red lever and pulled it hard. Above the cockpit, the searchlight that should have been flat against the sea rose quickly and shot into the sky.
Charles rushed to the door and looked up, and for an instant he trembled inexplicably. An unprecedented fear enveloped his whole body.
Right above the Narwhal, a giant eye covering half of the sky was staring straight at him.
