Chapter 614:

"This is just their mode of transportation. They pass through the air invisibly like wires. Fast, invisible, and silent. Then, they exist in their original form, only once again, when the current passes through the end of the wire, and enters The wires are exactly the same, only the voltage drop and other factors not related here are allowed.
"What we have to do now is to determine some way to get to the right place at the right time. I think, have you marked the moment of departure?"
"Exactly." I looked down at my watch and said with a sigh of relief that it was still running. Then, for the first time, I discovered that the watch, my clothes, and even my hands were not real. They are in this terrible state as Vic said -. "I leave at ten and three. It is 14 minutes from 11 o'clock-good lord! It's been less than an hour since I stood in your laboratory!"
Vic nodded: "Then, our next chance to come back in three minutes." "I want to know if there is a chance..."
Before B finished his sentence, the door was opened. Five of the older men, led by a sixth of his throat, entered the room solemnly and signaled us to leave.
At the door, a circle of double creatures surrounded us, and we were taken to the top of the building by a long corridor and a huge winding ramp.
"What to do?" I whispered to Vic.
"I don't know. The guy with the big voice seems to be the boss of the city. I think his name is -. Everyone seems to call him that. Maybe it's just the title. But I can't even guess what they are doing. But please keep your eyes open for a chance to escape. How do you feel, hope?"
"All excited!" She tried to smile and almost succeeded. Hope has always been a game. "When we are old and rheumatic, talking about how risky it will be!"
"Good boy!" Vic said, and I tried my best to press her hand comfortably. We turned on the long ramp we had been climbing and walked to the top of the broad level of the building.
Thousands of illusory creatures in this world are crowded around the huge, ugly image rising from the center of space. A terrible monster made Hope cry at first sight, and Vic was amazed.
To myself, I seem to be stupid. I can only stare at the black and terrible among these people.
The photo he sculpted is about 30 feet high and represents a figure squatting on his knees, with his head very low and tilted at a weird angle to make his face smile towards heaven. The palms face upwards, striking under the chin.
When our party appeared, a passage opened, and we passed through the gathered crowd and marched directly to the idol. The crowd uttered a high-pitched, soft-sounding chant, and a very ancient creature, whom I was the priest of the god, walked from behind the black god, instructing them to chant with the movements of their arms. Their faces are lighter and smarter than others. There is no sadness in their eyes, and sadness is the most obvious feature of other people. A gleaming scarlet stone hung on everyone's forehead, held in place by a circle of black metal or a hoop that looked like metal.
We stopped and chanted until I started to wonder if anything would happen. Then, finally stopped chanting, the three priests walked towards us, followed by an old man wearing the same symbol of power or authority that I already called-on Vic.
A priest spoke sharply to-and-nodded-in my opinion, this is not satisfactory.
"Old boys don't like these other guys; priest, I accept." Vic whispered. "I think they have been messing up his plans. See; he is motioning us to watch."
His priest led the old man back to the idol. He eagerly climbed up his outstretched hand, stood facing his grinning face, and stroked his smooth cheek with pleading fingers. The priest sank on the floor, bending over to mock the image. They touched their foreheads four times, and after the fourth gesture was completed, the object quickly moved behind the lips of the image, as if the plate had been raised for a while and then fell.
When the strings are played softly, they make a harsh, piercing sound. A scarlet light and shadow shot from the mouth of the black god, and the old man slammed back, as if being hit by some invisible agent. He would have fallen, but when he wrinkled, his body seemed to soften and shattered into a twinkling cloud. After a while, there was no sign of him anywhere.
"Well! I think, a huge reward for some remarkable service." Vic whispered. "Those pastors are wiser than the other crew members. They handle death carefully, which makes them great. They love life like earthlings; perhaps because they have found a way to enjoy it."
"But what is work? What killed him?" I was breathless.
"Can't say, Pete. You can't name it after our own world. I think they have mastered some natural forces. They control it through the shutter behind the edge of the image. Have you noticed?"
"Yes. I think one of the pastors is operating it in a hidden room. No matter what it is, it will work normally. What do you think they want us to do now?"
His three pastors walked towards us and smiled. I don't like their smiles; they were benign, but the cruel and vindictive turn on my lips made me shudder.
"Put your hand on the gun," Vic said quickly. "I don't like the look of these guys."
The priest stopped in front of us, and their leader started a long slaughter with a harsh voice, which made me nervous. When he finished, he stretched out his hands to me and gestured to the waiting idol.
-Loudly protested and pushed myself between me and the priest. For a moment, everything became chaotic due to this apparently unexpected interruption.
"Pete!" Vic whispered excitedly in my ear. "Listen, Pete, I think I understand. These priests have heard about us and our ability to deal with death. They are jealous; they want to be in this corner. The old e-salary man may be able to do him a favor, This is why he is arguing. The pastor hopes to commemorate the good deeds we have done by giving us rewards. So-"
Before he finished,-pushed away by a group of angry guards, I was pulled. Hope screamed, and from my tail, I saw Vic and Hope were frantically struggling, freeing themselves from the huge guard. Vic tried to yell, but a claw-shaped brown hand was immediately covered with his mouth.
He guards who is holding me, followed by the priest, making his own way towards the altar of death that forms this strange black who is advantageous. At the order of the priest, the guards lifted me to the altar, then stood and watched, staring at me with confused, sad, and jealous eyes.
I saw the priests crouching on the ground and imitating the black to make their first bow and arrow. Furiously, I looked around, looking for a way to escape.
Below me, the guards are surrounding me. They lap three times and I know I can't escape. Behind me, because I was facing so many people, it was the ugly, grinning face of the idol.
The priest bowed a second time.
Hope and Vic are fighting desperately, but each has at least ten guards. I raised my hand and waved goodbye, hoping that at least one of them could see the gesture and know that my last thought was about them.
Then, when the priest finished his third bow, I turned to face the statue.
When my eyes fell on the blinds behind the thick grinning lips, the blinds that released the deadly power, a crazy and desperate idea appeared. I yelled, took a gun from my pocket, and jumped aside. When I did this, I fired two shots at my open mouth and saw the bullet smash the heavy shutters. Then, the humming sound resounded in my ears like the sound of death, and I clearly jumped into the middle of waiting for the guard.
Or for an instant, there was no movement or sound in all the crowd. Even the guards seemed stunned, and I walked through their path almost without stopping.
Then a harsh cry rang. The cry completely drowned out the hum of the idol's broken mouth. The blind crowd flocked to the scarlet rays of death, fighting against the oblivion they so cherished.
Those who had hope and Vic were moving forward with the rest, and their former prisoners were forgotten in their crazy greed for death. The crowd quarreled with me, it seemed that I could not be seen. Every eye was fixed on the altar-like hand of the idol, and death enveloped them.
