Her intuition was right. He was the mysterious puppet master! After a year of being apart, she certainly did not expect that he would possess such odd skills of Kung Fu and even go on to become the Devil King of the Devil Kingdom.
It seemed that no matter how dark the situation seemed to be, he could always find a way and punch a hole through any barrier, shining his light in a whole new world where he was welcomed and celebrated.
Reviewing her own progress, Gu Xijiu realized that she had not achieved much in the past year. She spent most of her time searching for him. She was quite disappointed with herself, actually. Gu Xijiu took a deep breath. Being a stubborn person, she liked to finish everything that she started. Since she wanted to find him, there was no stopping her. Her anxious heart could finally take a rest.
The Devil Palace was rather vast. A wizardry barrier secured the perimeter of the palace. The view on the outside only revealed many buildings that were floating amid the clouds, like the celestial palace that were said to be afloat in the sky.
There was a main gate that was tall and grand, guarded by the most well-trained troops. Under such a level of surveillance, most people couldn’t enter. In order for Gu Xijiu to enter the palace, she could either use the main gate or break the wizardry barrier first and use her teleportation skill after.
She had only seen him once, so she was not sure how he felt about her. There was no way she could request for him so publicly through the main gate. She decided to make a door for herself, so she could sneak into the palace silently to have a look.
The wizardry barrier was very well built, but it was not a problem for Gu Xijiu at all. She knew almost every kind of wizardry barrier and how to solve them.
She performed an incantation with her fingers, and soon, there was a ripple on the barrier where she stood before. Glimpses of light flashed before her eyes and the barrier slowly faded away, revealing a small, round entry. With a leap, she teleported right away.
The buildings were densely built together, well-connected by many dividing paths. The stones on the mountains were oddly shaped. As for the view, it was a rather scenic place, surrounded by an abundance of refreshing green.
All the decorations in the palace were very well thought. Every piece was placed to meet the aesthetics of the area. The richness of sagacity lingered in the air, making her feel very comfortable.
Needless to say, the spiritual aura in the Devil Palace was definitely stronger than in the city. She took a deep breath and was amazed by the floral scent in the air. There were many guards and servants in the palace. Occasionally, they would appear in different corners at different times.
All of them possessed great Kung Fu, mostly at level six and above. Therefore, Gu Xijiu made sure that each step was taken very lightly to ensure the lowest level of noise.
The guards were very observant, too. While Gu Xijiu was hiding behind the bamboo trees, she accidentally stepped on a dried branch, and the cracking sound immediately caught the guards’ attention. If she were any less agile, the guards would have exposed her right away.
After a brief tour about the place, Gu Xijiu could almost be sure that the Devil King was Di Fuyi. The arrangement of the place looked somewhat familiar to her. It was almost the same as Di Fuyi’s residence in the Upper Bound.
Gu Xijiu overheard from the servants that the Devil King had already returned to the palace. Knowing him, she was sure that he would be in his study room at this hour. She tried to locate his study room the way she remembered the layout of his residence. From a distance, there was an area that resembled it. It really did look like a study room. Some servants were guarding the door quietly.
Gu Xijiu wanted to teleport into the room to check it out, but she noticed some movements and immediately went into hiding again. Not too far away, there was a group of people. A young lady, dressed entirely in white, was taking the lead. Some of her hair was down, and the rest were loosely tied with a hairband. She looked beautiful.
Gu Xijiu suddenly felt that her hopes of meeting him now had sunk. The young lady was actually the princess. She dressed very casually at her own place, without a thin veil to cover up her face this time. Gu Xijiu could finally see her appearance.
